Context

Located on farmlands in the Turrialba area, at the top of a mountain in the town of Guadalupe, a land of indigenous roots, Dalö Tsána offers the community a space for personal growth.

Dalö Tsána takes its name from a term used in the Cabécar community for the sacred stones and tools used in ceremonies to heal people in the community from various ailments.  What we’ve created in the mountains of Turrialba is a space for healing, connection, learning, and co-creation by offering a place to connect with nature, work on the land, eat fresh foods, participate in workshops, use medicinal plants, meditation, exercise and more.

"Dalö Tsána" is open again!

Our center aims to host groups of up to 6 to 8 people from 7 to 30 days with a commitment of 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. You can help with multiple tasks, including running the farm from the basics like managing the compost, taking care of the food beds, weeding, mulching, and caring for the animals, but mostly hands-on with the plants.

Free time activity

In our 16 hectares, there's enough space to move around, you have the choice to enjoy the top of the mountains and relax.

We have several common areas. We will share some tours that will be available for you on the weekend. You can also take a walk into town, 1hr walk, eat something local and return.

We can also call a taxi to take you to Turrialba, the main town, or explore the volcano, rivers, restaurants and so on.

Accommodation

The guesthouse has 2 rooms, each with 2 bunk beds and a nice orthopedic mattress. A bathroom and shower, with a kitchen in the middle.

The main house has 4 rooms, with 3 queen beds and a single bed, normally this house is for the team, but at the moment it's being renovated, so it's empty, we use this home for meetings, gatherings or meditation.

If someone wants to sleep in a hammock, there's plenty of room.

We also have a large camping tent with a mattress if anyone wants that option.

Food & Drink

We have 3 options for you to eat well at the farm.

1. Doña Rosa's kitchen... Her family has a cheese and milk business. At the same time her food tastes delicious, you can order the whole week's food (3 meals a day) for $100. She also has desserts on demand.

2. You can use our ingredients and cook your own meals with the group for $70 per week.

3. You can bring your own ingredients and cook for yourself without the group.

Typical breakfast

Gallo pinto is a mix of rice and beans, with plantains or tortillas, eggs, and bread. Some additions like sour cream, or cheese. Off course with coffee. Or a nice fruit salad with seeds.

Typical lunch

Casado, this is the name for a traditional lunch or dinner. It can be a chickpeas soup with veggies. A salad, and natural juices. Or it can be veggies, picadillo(it’s a kind of cut veggie fried with a sauce), avocado, beans, or lentils. Just some ideas…

Daily Schedule

The day begins at 6:30 a.m., gathering on the deck for some time of meditation, reading, and stretching.

Space

• In our 16 hectares, we have 2 waterfalls, viewpoints, trails, fish ponds, a food garden, chilling areas, and a sugar cane mill to produce sugar cane juice according to the traditional method.

• 1 house with 2 rooms each. Each room has 2 bunk beds, but we accept 3 people per room, or suitable for families or groups of friends.

• 1 house in reform, where there are 4 rooms, if someone wants more privacy, are available prior to coordination.

• 3 showers, 3 toilets

Social Impact and Education

You will have the opportunity to live on a farm, eat local food, and learn more about Latin American cultures. We work closely with leaders to learn how to work with indigenous communities. This is an opportunity for people with humble hearts who want to connect deeply with each other, our roots, and the land.

Program fees

Medical Plants and Organic Farming Assistant

• Price: $110 per week(₡55.000) - Minimum 1 week.

Enjoy the Costa Rican Rural Lifestyle

• Included: Accommodation, guides, materials, tools, 1 Indigenous craft gift, visit to the butterfly garden in town, 1 lecture about sacred plants, multiple guided meditations, milk & cheese workshop, and 1 tour to a waterfall.

• Price: $250 per week(₡140.000)

Adventure farm package

• Included: Medicinal plants workshop(3hrs), waterfall tour, accommodation, 3 vegetarian meals a day, and an indigenous craft gift. Visit an organic coffee plantation and the butterfly garden.

• Dedicated coaching on medicinal plants, and shamanism.

• Price: $300 for 3 nights(₡155.000)

• This is not a volunteer opportunity, chill.

* Long-term stays on the farm are possible with lower fees, join our base program and let's talk about future possibilities on the farm.

** Our standard transportation fee for a round trip to the farm and back to the main road is $60. We are located 25 minutes from the main road in a 4x4 vehicle. Please note, however, that we are not responsible for individuals who choose to arrive on foot, as there is no emergency signal and the road is steep.

How money is invested

• We pay a basic commission to our local and indigenous employees.

• We want to continue to improve the infrastructure of the farm.

• Resources will be redirected to continue growing medicine and inviting experts to the farm.

• To fund cultural activities for the community and visitors.
